Lyon midfielder Mathys De Carvalho to sign for Al-Diriyah Olympique Lyonnais’ Mathys De Carvalho (21) is expected to sign for Al-Diriyah, according to reports in L’Équipe . Courted by several Saudi and Portuguese clubs, the midfielder is said to have been won over by the pitch from his future manager, Bruno Lage. At Al-Diriyah, who have been promoted to the top flight, De Carvalho will be reunited with other former Ligue 1 players such as Chancel Mbemba (32), Idrissa Gueye (36) and Enzo Millot (24). Lyon, the club where he came through the ranks, are set to receive a fee of around €1m, plus a number of bonuses, in compensation. Expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia in the coming hours, De Carvalho will immediately sign a contract running until 2029. Launched into professional football by Paulo Fonseca, the Portuguese Under-20 international (10 caps, one goal) has made 22 appearances in all competitions for OL – providing one assist.
