Lucas Digne rejects Barcelona comparison with Luis Enrique’s PSG: ‘If you look at it in terms of…’ Lucas Digne has rejected comparisons between Barcelona’s current attacking approach and the system Luis Enrique has developed at Paris Saint-Germain, insisting that the Spanish coach has never been someone who repeats himself. The comparison has gained attention around Barcelona, particularly after the club finally added a traditional centre-forward in Gabriel Jesus.  Before the Brazilian’s arrival, Barça’s attacking options encouraged comparisons with Luis Enrique’s PSG, where forwards have been given considerable freedom to move across the front line. Digne, who played under Luis Enrique at Barcelona and now works with him again at PSG, does not see the two approaches as interchangeable. “No, no, no. If you look at it in terms of ball possession, it’s different from how Barça played under Luis Enrique, because he’s constantly adapting his football,” Digne said, as per Mundo Deportivo . That history also influenced Digne’s decision to return to PSG earlier this year after his spell with Aston Villa. “It was very important because I knew the Barcelona manager; I knew his winning mentality,” he said. You enter a competition to win it, and even more so when you’re the defending champions.” The comparison with PSG is understandable, but it is important to note that Enrique himself has changed, PSG have changed and Barcelona are developing their own attack under Hansi Flick.  As Digne explains, “It’s different; it’s a different game. It takes time and a lot of hard work,” he concluded.
