Pulido not convinced by new Mourinho However, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo , Cadena SER journalist Julio Pulido has questioned whether Mourinho’s new approach is something that will last long. “I don’t believe him, let’s make that clear from the start,” Pulido said while discussing the Portuguese coach on El Larguero . Mourinho has so far appeared more measured both in press conferences and on the touchline. The journalist specifically questioned how long Mourinho’s improved relationship with the media will survive. “He clearly has a closer relationship with the press. How long will it last? Until the press criticises him, when you start losing and there is criticism,” Pulido added. Referee comments attract attention Pulido also spoke about Mourinho’s comments on the Spanish referees, in which he extended his support to them . The journalist, however, doubts that stance will last once a decision or two starts going against Real Madrid in the coming months. “When will he stop trusting them? He has always come across as a manager who is a master of mind games and reading the situation, using it to gain advantages for his team. He has never been afraid of speaking out, confrontation or touchline arguments, both with referees and opposition managers. Right now, in his second spell, though, he is in his honeymoon period at the Spanish club, where everything seems like a bed of roses. It is only when the cracks begin to appear that one can truly realise whether this version of Jose is markedly different from the previous ones. If this calmer approach survives adversity, then Madrid may genuinely have brought back a different Mourinho. If it does not, Pulido’s warning will quickly look far more significant.
