Sunderland sign West Ham United defender Bose on loan Sunderland have completed the signing of West Ham United defender Ria Bose on a loan deal until January. The Lady Black Cats announced the news via a post on their official club website earlier today. The 20-year-old joins Sunderland in a bid to get a regular run of games under her belt at Barclays WSL2 level. Bose spent her youth in the academies at Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea before joining Sporting CP. The youngster spent two years in Portugal before returning to England in summer 2026 when she joined West Ham United. Bose made one appearance for The Hammers in the Barclays Women’s Super League last season. The player represented West Ham United at the World Sevens Football tournament. On the international stage, Bose has represented England at various youth levels up to and including Under-19 level. She has now been called up into the Under-20 squad. After joining Sunderland on loan, Bose said “I’m delighted to join Sunderland on loan for the first half of the season. It’s an exciting opportunity to join the Club. “I’m really looking forward to getting started and settling into the group after the U20 World Cup.” Bose’s loan move was completed ahead of last night’s 11pm transfer deadline.
