Barcelona adopt new La Masia transfer plan to keep control of young players
Barcelona adopt new La Masia transfer plan to keep control of young players Barcelona have adopted a noticeably different approach to managing their La Masia talent this summer, moving away from a heavy reliance on loan deals and instead prioritising permanent exits that allow the club to retain control over their former academy players. According to SPORT , Deco and Barcelona’s sporting department recognised that several young players faced limited opportunities under Hansi Flick because of the competition for places in the first team. So, rather than repeatedly sending them out on temporary deals, the club has looked to secure immediate transfer income while protecting its interests through buy-back options, matching rights and future-sale percentages. Tommy Marques has joined Braga for €11 million. The Catalan club have kept a percentage of his future sale and a right of first refusal, allowing them to continue monitoring his progress. Hector Fort has also left Barcelona, joining Real Sociedad for 8.5 million euros, with Barça keeping 50% of the rights to a future sale. A new path for Barcelona’s academy prospects The changes are not limited to straightforward permanent transfers, as Toni Fernandez has joined Venezia in a deal structured differently from the others. Alvaro Cortes has moved to Royal Antwerp in Belgium. His brother Guille Fernandez has joined Mallorca for around €3 million, with Barcelona retaining a 40% share of any future sale and a buy-back clause exercisable from two years. Lastly, there is a similar safeguard in Alvaro Cortes’ move to Royal Antwerp , with Barcelona set to receive €3.5 million from the deal and retain a percentage of his future sale.
