Pundit claims Liverpool could move for La Liga legend

Pundit claims Liverpool could move for La Liga legend Liverpool Linked With Dani Carvajal as Joleon Lescott Flags Transfer Possibility Liverpool could yet have further business to consider despite the summer Transfer Window having closed, with Joleon Lescott mentioning Dani Carvajal when discussing potential activity at Anfield. Speaking on TNT Sports alongside David Ornstein, Lescott was asked which Premier League clubs could be active when the January Transfer Window arrives. Liverpool were among the teams he identified, although the former England defender also raised the possibility of Carvajal at right back. “I think there’s talk of Liverpool, Carvajal, right back,” Lescott said. “So yeah, I would say Liverpool as well.” It was a brief comment, without further detail regarding the nature of that talk, but it immediately placed Liverpool and Carvajal into the Transfer Window conversation. Carvajal name arrives after Liverpool receive C grade Liverpool had already featured prominently in the discussion when Ornstein was asked to grade Premier League clubs on their summer Transfer Window. The Athletic journalist placed Liverpool in the C category, alongside Newcastle United, while suggesting their recruitment could eventually be viewed more favourably. Ornstein said: “I’ll put Liverpool in that bracket as well. I think overall their signings will come to be seen as being better in time and we caught a glimpse of that last night at Ipswich.” Liverpool had beaten Ipswich Town 2-0, producing what the TNT Sports panel described as “a much better performance”. Ornstein’s assessment therefore carried an element of patience. Liverpool were not placed alongside the clubs receiving the highest grades, although he expects perceptions of their signings to improve over time. Right back enters Liverpool conversation Lescott’s mention of Carvajal specifically identified right back as part of the Liverpool discussion. There was no extended debate about the Spaniard during this particular TNT Sports segment and Lescott did not elaborate on how advanced, or otherwise, any potential interest might be. The wording therefore matters. “There’s talk of Liverpool, Carvajal, right back,” is considerably different from suggesting an agreement, approach or negotiation is underway. What can be said from the conversation is that Lescott included Liverpool among the clubs he believes could remain active and specifically mentioned Carvajal when discussing them. Ornstein expects January activity David Ornstein also believes the next Transfer Window could become busier than might usually be anticipated. Liverpool have therefore emerged from TNT Sports’ Transfer Window review with two notable observations. Ornstein believes their summer signings could “come to be seen as being better in time”, while Lescott has now introduced Carvajal’s name into the discussion around what Liverpool could potentially do next. For now, it remains precisely what Lescott called it, “talk”.
