And now, fortunately for them, one of their long-term targets have confirmed that they're ready to take the plunge and join the Reds. Although their attack and defence were massively improved, the centre of the park was more or less forgotten about. Indeed, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have just signed extensions to their contracts but, as they proved in Liverpool's opening game of the season, neither of them work well together in a double pivot. Each midfielder wants to push forward and get in on the action which ends up leaving the Reds' defence exposed to counter-attacks. So, the fact that Lamine Camara, who was one of Liverpool's main options for the middle of the park has now confirmed that he's ready to make the move to L4 is massive. And, when Curtis Jones joined Inter Milan, it felt like that should have been their main priority. However, for one reason or another, the Reds decided against this and instead, chose to spend £30 million on a relatively unproven 18-year-old goalkeeper. However, after Camara's performance for Monaco in their 2-1 win against PSG on Friday night, it certainly feels like the Reds will be regretting that decision. In the 90 minutes that Camara played, the Senegal international maintained a pass accuracy of 92 per cent with 94 per cent of the passes he attempted in his own half making to their intended target [ Sofascore ]. He had 66 touches of the ball and, while only 25 per cent of the dribbles he attempted ended successfully, his position on the pitch meant that he wasn't really meant to drive the ball up the pitch that much anyway. Defensively, Camara was also impeccable as he recovered the ball five times and attempted 20 ground duels. A good tackler is something that Iraola's squad is massively missing so, the fact that 60 per cent of those duels he attempted ended up being successful proves why he's be perfect for Liverpool.
