Davis raised reports that Liverpool had made a series of calls regarding Camara during the summer, while also pointing towards Chelsea apparently falling out of contention for the midfielder. For Liverpool, the fascinating question concerns whether Camara could ultimately become part of their planning for 2027. Liverpool Interest in Lamine Camara Remains When Davis suggested Camara could be a player Liverpool supporters will be watching until January, Lynch’s response was immediate. “Yeah, definitely.” Lynch then outlined several circumstances which could potentially leave Liverpool in a strong position. “I think because, you know, Chelsea are not going to be in the mix for him now, or seemingly not, because they’re really annoyed about how that whole thing played out.” Then came the significant Liverpool element. “Liverpool asking him to wait, Liverpool having a potential vacancy in the midfield coming up.” That potential vacancy appears important to the entire discussion. Camara does not necessarily need to arrive because Liverpool suddenly require another midfielder immediately. Lynch’s analysis instead centred upon whether the club could anticipate a future change within the squad. Alexis Mac Allister Could Shape Liverpool Plans Alexis Mac Allister was central to Lynch’s reasoning. “Alexis Mac Allister, for me, he was a candidate to go this summer, albeit it didn’t materialise in the end.” More significantly, Lynch believes the situation could return in 2027. “He’ll still definitely be a candidate to go next summer when he’ll have a year remaining on his contract. There were no contract talks there.” That creates the intriguing possibility of Liverpool acting before any Mac Allister departure actually happens. Rather than waiting until next summer and subsequently entering the market needing a midfielder, Lynch raised the possibility of Liverpool attempting to secure Camara from AS Monaco during January. “Do you get ahead of it and bring Camara in in January if you can?” It is a question which gets directly to the heart of Liverpool’s potential transfer strategy. AS Monaco Deal Could Be Revisited in January Lynch also referenced the sort of financial territory involved in a possible Camara transfer. “Try and agree that what was essentially quite a cut price fee that Chelsea did as well, around 55 million euros, and kind of bring him in, blood him and then prepare yourself for a summer where Mac Allister goes.” He added: “That might be the option to go with.” That sequence would give Liverpool several months to integrate Camara before potentially losing an established midfielder. There was no claim from Lynch that a deal with AS Monaco is agreed, nor that Camara has definitively been established as Liverpool’s number one transfer target for 2027. The discussion did, however, make clear that Liverpool’s interest is longstanding and remains relevant. According to Lynch’s discussion with Davis, that has not necessarily brought their interest to an end. “Big case for Liverpool to maybe sign him then and also a case for us to definitely watch him until then.” For now, Camara remains an AS Monaco player and Mac Allister remains at Liverpool. Yet the circumstances outlined on Media Matters provide a clear transfer storyline heading towards January and eventually the summer of 2027. Liverpool like Camara, they have been watching him for months, and Lynch believes there is a genuine case for attempting to bring him to Anfield in January. Whether he ultimately emerges as Liverpool’s leading target for 2027 remains unanswered. What appears far clearer from this conversation is that Lamine Camara is a name worth remembering.
