'It's time for me to step up' - Ramsey

[Getty Images] Jacob Ramsey is ready to "step up" for Newcastle this season following the summer's departures of fellow midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali. Ramsey, who joined the Magpies last summer for £40m, made 28 appearances last season with 13 of those coming from the bench. He has had to settle with three appearances from the bench this season too under head coach Matthias Jaissle, but scored against Bournemouth on Saturday to earn his side a point. "If you're looking from the outside, two big players leaving in my position, it's time for me to step up now and I'm looking forward to it," Ramsey said. "It's a big challenge. When I came to Newcastle, I wanted to play week in, week out. Obviously, I haven't done that so far, but football can change so quick. "I was disappointed not to start in any of the Premier League games. But I've got big self-belief in my ability. I'm a confident lad and hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to prove that I can play here."
