Rodri, Fermin start in a 4-3-3: How Barcelona can line up against Feyenoord

Rodri, Fermin start in a 4-3-3: How Barcelona can line up against Feyenoord FC Barcelona begin their UEFA Champions League campaign later tonight as they take on Feyenoord in their first match of the league phase at the Spotify Camp Nou. The Blaugrana have made a perfect start to the 2026/27 campaign, winning each of their first four La Liga games. Their latest match ended in a 5-0 thumping of Valencia this past weekend, setting them up nicely heading into their European encounter. Feyenoord, meanwhile, have also made a positive start to the campaign under manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The Dutch outfit are unbeaten so far in the Eredivisie, winning three and drawing two matches, with their latest encounter ending in a 3-1 win over NEC. Nonetheless, facing Hansi Flick’s Barcelona team in their current form will be a huge challenge for Feyenoord, with the hosts going into tonight’s clash as the overwhelming favourites. The Catalans do not have any fresh injury concerns heading into the game either, with Frenkie de Jong and Roony Bardghji being the main absentees. Jesse Bisiwu has recovered from his knock and has trained with the first team, but is not called up for the game . Eric Garcia, however, misses out with a suspension. No Eric Garcia for Barcelona. Defence Joan Garcia has been a permanent fixture in the Barcelona goal since his arrival last year from RCD Espanyol. He will be looking to keep another clean sheet after the positive start to the season. With Eric unavailable, Flick has a decision to make with regard to the starting right-back. While both Joao Cancelo and Xavi Espart are options, it is likely that the manager trusts Jules Kounde despite his slow start to the new season. On the left side of the defence, Espart , who has been impressive so far in the new season, is expected to continue ahead of Alejandro Balde and Cancelo. At centre-back, there is unlikely to be any change in the partnership, with Pau Cubarsi and Gerard Martin expected to continue. Midfield Summer signing Rodri made his first start in Barcelona colours against Valencia and excelled. As such, Flick is expected to continue with the 2026 World Cup-winning captain at the base of his three-man midfield unit. Partnering Rodri in the middle of the park will be Pedri , who remains one of the most important players for Barcelona, with the pairing showing great signs in their first game together for the Blaugrana. Fermin has been brilliant so far. (Photo by David Ramos/Getty Images) Fermin Lopez , who has been unstoppable so far in the new season, will be the third midfielder for Barcelona, tasked with providing the attacking threat going forward. Attack Moving to the final third, Flick is unlikely to make any changes here either, considering how well his attackers have been performing. Raphinha has been in fine form operating as Barça’s new centre-forward and will continue playing in a central role. On the flanks, the duo of Lamine Yamal and Anthony Gordon will look to continue offering a goal threat and creative outlet for the home team.
