French FA to withdraw support to FIFA President Gianni Infantino

French FA to withdraw support to FIFA President Gianni Infantino The French Football Federation (FFF) are expected to announce in the coming hours that they are withdrawing their support for outgoing FIFA president Gianni Infantino, according to reports from Agence France-Presse . Whilst an executive committee meeting of the federation is due to take place this Thursday to decide on the association’s position regarding the Italian-Swiss leader, who is seeking a further term at the helm of FIFA, their decision is expected this afternoon. And barring any exceptional turn of events, the FFF will likely follow the lead set by Sweden, Scotland, Italy and Belgium, as well as the Hungarian Sandor Csanyi, one of the eight vice-presidents of the FIFA Council, all of whom have distanced themselves from Infantino. This shift follows, in particular, the Federation’s complete disagreement with the latter’s now-abandoned plan to privatise the World Cup. Whilst he remains, for the time being, the sole candidate to succeed himself, Infantino is likely to find out the identity of his rival(s) very soon, with the presidential election due to take place on 18th March 2027 in Rabat.
