PSG star on team’s “poor” start to the season and his own form after 4 G/A showing Ousmane Dembele was back to his best last night, but hasn’t held back with his assessment of PSG’s season so far. PSG’s have started the season slowly, there’s no doubt about it. However there’s also no panic – it’s following the standard pattern under Luis Enrique, where the team basically use the first weeks of the season as an extended preseason, and look to peak right at the end of the campaign. With two Champions League trophies in a row under their belt, it’s a formula that’s hard to question. Dembele on “poor” start to the season by PSG Ousmane Dembele playing for PSG. (Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images) That doesn’t mean that losses or poor performances are acceptable, and star man Ousmane Dembele wasn’t wheeling any excuses when talking about the campaign so far after full time in the 6-1 thrashing of Slovan Bratislava last night “We had to win the match today because we started the season poorly. We had to keep going like this, demand even more from ourselves. We’re back-to-back European Champions, everybody wants to beat us.” “I’m happy with my performance, I feel better and better. I hope to get more and more minutes to pick up the pace.” Dembele was great – and most importantly showed great chemistry with summer arrival Ferran Torres. While performances are still ramping up, it seems that relationship is already ahead of schedule. In other news… Ferran Torres was signed to replace Goncalo Ramos as the main backup attacker – but he’s already putting pressure on the starting trio. PSG smashed Slovan Bratislava last night, lancing in 6 goals to finally shake off the fog of a shaky start to the season in Ligue 1.
