Charlton Athletic sign Swedish forward Korhonen Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of Swedish forward Cassandra Korhonen. The Addicks announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website this afternoon. The 28-year-old joins the South East Londoners from Danish A-Liga club HB Køge. She has signed a two-year deal at The Valley. Korhonen spent her early days playing in her native Sweden in spells with Gideonsbergs IF, Västerås BK30 and IK Uppsala Fotboll before moving to Finnish club Åland United. The forward then tested herself in Portugal with S.L. Benfica before playing for Swiss club Servette FC Chênois. She joined latest club HB Køge last year. On the international stage, Korhonen has represented Sweden up to Under-21 level. After joining Charlton Athletic, Korhonen said “It feels really good to have signed for Charlton. It is a club with history, and I am looking forward to starting this journey together. “The Valley is a beautiful stadium, and we have great facilities at the training ground, so this will be a good season.” It has not yet been confirmed whether Korhonen is in-line to make her Charlton Athletic debut when the club contest their second Barclays Women’s Super League fixture of the season at Everton on Sunday.
