Foxes players 'believe' in Martin approach – Joseph

Martin's position as Foxes boss, and his insistence on playing possession heavy football, was widely slammed by Foxes fans and football pundits after the former Premier League champions were beaten 4-0 by Oxford United. Ex-Leicester forward Matt Piper branded Martin's rigid approach - which also drew criticism in his short spell at Rangers and in his later months with Southampton in the Premier League – as "passing teams to death". When Joseph was asked by BBC East Midlands Today about Martin's football philosophy and the backlash it has evoked, the 20-year-old said: "We all believe in it. "I feel like it's a good style of football and it will work, and I feel like the rest of the team believe that as well." 'Problems run deeper' - Coady on Leicester crisis Oxford loss 'solely down to the players' - Souttar Leicester captain Harry Souttar said the defeat by Oxford was "solely down to the players" when defending his boss at the weekend, while former Foxes defender Conor Coady has argued that problems at the club "have got to run deeper" than Martin and his squad. Joseph is one of a number of Leicester academy players that has been relied upon in League One after they suffered back-to-back relegations from the Premier League and Championship. Financial pressures on a club that has struggled to comply with spending rules in recent years led to major summer changes, as a long list of high profile players that were on big wages - which included Denmark defender Jannik Vestergaard, former England international Harry Winks and Ghana forward Jordan Ayew - were moved on. It also meant that profits on the sale of academy player Jeremy Monga to Manchester City and Abdul Fatawu's move to Ipswich Town were vital for a club that has been put up for sale by owner Khun Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha in recent weeks. The upheaval means just three of the players that started in Leicester's final Championship match at Blackburn last season started in the defeat by Oxford on Saturday. "We are a new group," Joseph said. "It's no excuse, but I feel like it's natural that it would take time to build what we have and let it work out. "It's difficult for the fans, we know that, but patience is a good thing. We need to give it that bit of time for it all to come together."
