However, in the end, a deal never came to fruition with several areas among the Reds' ranks lacking in depth. Obviously, the winter window is the next time that Liverpool can sign anyone so fans are already thinking about what moves Liverpool could make to try and improve their chances of adding some silverware to their trophy cabinet. However, looking back at their summer transfer window, it's hard not to think about the players that the Reds missed out on. Ferran Torres is a prime example. The Spaniard was used all across the front three by Barcelona last season and contributed to 24 goals across all competitions, more than what Salah achieved with Liverpool. In the end, he ended up exiting the Camp Nou and joined Paris Saint-Germain to be their replacement for Kang-in Lee. But, before he made his decision to join the Ligue 1 outfit, Liverpool were rumoured to be interested in acquiring his services . However, for one reason or another, this deal never came to fruition and, now that he's scored a Champions League hat trick for PSG against Slovan Bratislava, it certainly feels like Iraola missed out on his perfect Salah successor. So, the fact that the Reds have four natural left-wingers among their ranks probably won't phase Iraola. However, versatility is one of the main reasons why Torres would have been the perfect replacement for Salah at Anfield. He can be used anywhere across the front three and, after his performances last term, he proved that he could easily be a club's main attacking outlet if needed. The fact that he's also only 26 years old means that he still has plenty of time left at the top level. Torres' Premier League experience with Manchester City would have also been massively helpful. Indeed, if the Reds did sign Torres they may not have been able to get a deal for Barcola over the line but, from an outside perspective, it feels like the Anfield outfit really messed up by not confirming a deal for the Spaniard. That is, especially with Iraola at the helm.
