Real Madrid summer signing growing frustrated with lack of playing time under Mourinho – report

Real Madrid summer signing growing frustrated with lack of playing time under Mourinho – report Yan Diomande is reportedly growing frustrated with his lack of playing time at Real Madrid, despite being the club’s record signing and arriving with expectations of making an immediate impact. The 19-year-old has so far featured in each of Madrid’s five competitive matches this season, but all those appearances have come from the bench.  Notably, he has played just 99 minutes across La Liga and the Champions League, without registering a goal or assist. For what it is worth, Diomande did not expect to walk straight into Jose Mourinho’s starting XI. He did, though, expect more opportunities than he has received during the opening weeks of the campaign. Diomande has seen chances pass him by Recent reports suggest the Ivorian winger is increasingly anxious about his situation, as he feels there have been games where a starting opportunity was there, particularly against Malaga and Inter Milan. Mourinho made a different call on both occasions, selecting Brahim Diaz instead.  The Moroccan has also impressed and is making his own argument for a larger role, leaving Diomande facing genuine competition rather than simply waiting behind an established starter. That has made the situation harder for the teenager to understand. He joined Real Madrid to play, and while he accepted that becoming an undisputed starter immediately was unrealistic, the limited minutes have caught him by surprise. Mourinho, for his part, has asked the youngster to be patient . The manager believes Diomande’s opportunity will come, but is not prepared to accelerate his integration simply because of the size of the transfer fee. Real Madrid fully committed to Diomande As such, the frustration within the player’s camp does not appear to have changed Real Madrid’s view of the signing. The current situation is therefore less about doubts over his talent and more about timing.  Mourinho has his preferred options, Brahim is pushing for more minutes, and Diomande is still adapting to the demands of playing for Real Madrid. For now, the teenager will have to wait for his opening. His response, when it arrives, could determine how that patience pays off.
