3 storylines to watch out for in the Bundesliga this weekend It’s matchday three in the Bundesliga , and the table is still in the brilliant early stages where the current top four are Augsburg, Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Elversberg – what a fantastic sight.  As is the case when it’s this early in the season, the table will drastically change once again come Sunday evening.  Here are three storylines to watch out for this weekend in the Bundesliga.  Dortmund’s Paderborn Record and Schlotterbeck Return On Saturday afternoon, Borussia Dortmund hosts newbies Paderborn. BVB have reason to be confident going into this one as they’ve never lost a competitive match against Paderborn. Whilst both clubs have only met on eight occasions, in three of those meetings Dortmund recorded two 6-1s and one 7-1 victory.  Whilst the omens are very much on BVB’s side, this weekend could also see the return of central defender Nico Schlotterbeck , who picked up an injury playing for Germany at last summer’s World Cup.  In fact, both Schlotterbeck and fellow defender Ramy Bensebaini returned to team training this week and will be available for selection this Saturday.  Dortmund have won their opening two matches this season, most recently beating TSG Hoffenheim 2-3. Paderborn have recorded one point following a 0-0 draw with Mainz on the opening day.  Bayern Munich & Temporary Changing Rooms There’s a real mismatch this Sunday as Bayern Munich takes on the Bundesliga’s smallest-ever side, SV Elversberg.  Elversberg are already proving to be the surprise package by winning their opening two matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach.  When SVE hosts Bayern on matchday three, the Rekordmeister will be in unfamiliar settings. Elversberg are currently redeveloping one of their main stands, meaning the changing rooms are currently temporary structures, which wouldn’t be out of place in Germany’s Kreisliga (District League).  Elversberg will be hoping this will unsettle Bayern as they seek to continue their incredible start to the campaign.  Having recently spoken to Elversberg Technical Director, Josef Welzmüller, the Bavarian native is determined that the club will continue to play the energetic and pressing football which has worked so far.  Never Sleep on the Friday Night Game A sentence as true as time itself; never skip the Friday night game.  This matchday, Union Berlin hosts Schalke 04 in the German capital. Union have one point from their opening two matches, the same as S04, who held Bayern 0-0 last weekend.  Union will once again be relying on their strong home record to ensure that they’re not in danger of dropping into a relegation battle, which they’ve been guilty of in recent years. For Schalke, it’s a case of building on top of their incredible performance against Bayern last time out and this time going for all three points.  Former Union player Robin Gosens makes his return to Koppenick with Schalke for the first time, and wouldn’t it just be typical that he has a say in how this game concludes?  Expect plenty of action and goals on Friday evening.  GGFN | Jamie Allen
