Hedley excited to make Guernsey FC return after pregnancy

Calleigh Hedley has averaged two goals a game for Guernsey FC [Guernsey FC] "I'm not looking forward to spending whole days away from him," says Guernsey FC top scorer Calleigh Hedley. The striker has returned to action after giving birth to her son Luca, having missed half of last season after becoming pregnant. Now she has to juggle being a mother, and all that that entails, with trying to return to fitness and training in preparation for the new season. "My family are amazing, they're always helping me with Luca," she told BBC Radio Guernsey. "If I need to go to the gym or anything, they're always offering 'we'll have him for a bit so you can go do what you need to do'. "For the away games, for the home games, they say 'we'll have him, don't worry', so it's been a massive help." Guernsey FC top scorer Hedley to miss rest of season Guernsey FC Women lose historic FA Cup debut Despite only playing eight times last season Hedley scored 16 goals - she finished as the sixth-highest scorer in the Southern Region Women's Football League Division One South. Guernsey FC will hope her goalscoring form returns as they prepare for their second season in the English league pyramid, but the signs so far are good. In last month's Women's FA Cup match - Guernsey's first-ever game in the competition - she scored both their goals in a 3-2 loss at home to Chessington & Hook United - the first coming just two minutes after kick-off. "I was shocked," she said. "I wasn't sure I was even going to get a goal, let alone score in two minutes. "It definitely helped me feel a bit better coming back into it, and I obviously had my family there watching and Luca was there, so it was really nice. The Green Lionesses host Bognor Regis Town in their first league game on Sunday before a run of three consecutive away matches. Those trips mean getting up early to catch a flight to England before returning in the evening. "I don't know if I'll be able to commit to every single away game," she said. "But I will definitely be trying to do some, but it'll be difficult having a day away from him."
