Magnusson eager to be main man for Hearts

Tomas Magnusson is determined to grasp his chance in Hearts' injury-hit midfield as he looks to secure a first trip to Hampden. The Norwegian midfielder has made just three starts in 10 appearances this season, but injuries to Tom Renaud and Blair Spittal have opened the door to more game-time. "It's not long into the season and we've had to deal with a lot of injuries in midfield and centre-half as well," Magnusson said. "There's always a man ready to step up and do the job if someone's getting knocked down. "Unfortunately, that is the situation, and if it's me or someone else who needs to get on the park and do the job for 90 minutes, we've shown we can fill in. So hopefully we can just keep on doing it." Magnusson is not taking second-tier leaders Stenhousemuir lightly in tonight's visit to Ochilview as the sides vie for a League Cup semi-final place. "That's something we want to do, go to Hampden," Magnusson said. "So it's one win away and then another win, it'll be a final, so there's a lot up for grabs. "It'll be amazing to get through and play there. I haven't played there myself, so making a decent run in both cups would be ideal. "But Stenhousemuir are a team on astro and they've been doing well in the Championship and beat Motherwell last round in the cup."
