Barcelona 17-year-old talent experiencing remarkable learning curve in young career Jordi Pesquer has experienced an extraordinary few months, moving between FC Barcelona’s first team, Juvenil A and Barça Atlètic while also representing Spain Under-18s. The 17-year-old left-back now faces an unusual question over where he will spend most of the season. But this movement between the teams under different coaches has come as an immense learning experience for the young La Masia prospect, reports SPORT . A summer of learning Pesquer’s development at Barcelona had followed a fairly conventional path until last season. Pesquer spent most of the 2025/26 campaign with Juvenil B , where he was a regular starter under Cesc Bosch. His late-season promotion to Juvenil A under Pol Planas was also a natural part of his development. What happened this summer, however, was anything but routine. Pesquer unexpectedly joined the first-team squad for pre-season, with several circumstances working in his favour. Jofre Torrents’ move to Ajax, muscular problems for Alejandro Balde and the prolonged negotiations over Joao Cancelo’s return left Hansi Flick short of natural left-backs. As such, the manager turned to Pesquer during the pre-season. The teenager responded by showing that he could potentially become a future long-term option at left-back. Pesquer did not make his debut, but the first-team call-up was a significant milestone in his young career. Pesquer was then called up by Spain Under-18 national team manager David Cubillo and played three matches during the mini-tournament in El Albir. When he returned to Barcelona, Cancelo had completed his move and Espart had established himself as another left-back option. Pesquer subsequently joined Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atletic, where he featured in the Copa Catalunya final. The following weekend Pesquer started Juvenil A’s league opener against Huesca and came off the bench during Barça Atletic’s impressive 5-0 victory over Naxara a day later. Where will Pesquer play? Pesquer is effectively operating across three levels at Barcelona: the first team, Juvenil A and Barça Atletic. The constant movement between teams has not appeared to unsettle him. Instead, it has given the youngster exposure to very different environments and demands as he continues his development. Five coaches, five different environments and an enormous amount of experience for a teenager still at the beginning of his career. The Barcelona first team, Barça Atletic, and the Juvenil A team are all in action this Sunday. With Pesquer not being a part of Flick’s training session today, a call-up for the Levante game is off the table. However, given everything that has happened in recent months, it would be premature to rule out another first-team call-up in the near future. The most logical solution at present appears to be for Pesquer to compete for the starting left-back position at Barça Atletic. At the same time, an occasional return to Juvenil A could also be on the cards if the club believes he needs more minutes.
