Ball frustrated as Torquay United draw with Dorking

Jimmy Ball's side are unbeaten in their last three matches [Shutterstock] Torquay United manager Jimmy Ball says he is unhappy with how many chances his side are spurning after their 2-2 draw at home to Dorking Wanderers. Deon Moore gave the hosts a 23rd-minute lead as he bundled the ball home from a blocked clearance. But Dorking levelled nine minutes later through Dawid Rogalski as Tegan Finn and Josh Beaumont-Clark went close for the Gulls before the break. Dorking took the lead 10 minutes into the second half with a Josh Barrett goal before Sonny-Blu Lo-Everton made it 2-2 midway through the second half from a free kick. The Gulls had Jake Wannell sent off with 11 minutes left for a second booking as they held on for a point which leaves them eighth in National League South, with Dorking one place above them on goal difference. "We're showing that side to Torquay United that I want - a resilient side, a gritty side when we need to be," Ball told BBC Radio Devon. "But I'm still just extremely frustrated with us not taking chances when we should, and the goals we're giving up, that's another one that I would put in the unacceptable column. "I just think that it was just finishing needed to be a little bit better, and if we had been a little bit better I think we go in 3-0 up, but we didn't," he added. "So we have to be big boys about it and we have to stop conceding really poor goals like the second was and then we've got to be more precise with our passing when we're in those midfield areas. "When you give it away there you are open, as every team is when they're in that area and the ball is secure, the players back each other so they run forward and so you have to be more precise in those areas with your passing."
