The next Philippe Coutinho is finally here and he's closing in on joining Liverpool first-team An exciting wonderkid could be Liverpool's next Philippe Coutinho and he's nearing the first-team. We've waited so long for the Brazilian's second coming. What an absolutely utterly outrageous footballer Coutinho was. He was a wizard, a true wizard with the way he was able to manipulate the ball and pull off passes and skill moves that just seemed otherworldly. It's a shame how his Liverpool career ended. However, at the very peak of his powers Coutinho was the kind of player that unlocked defences and for whom Anfield flock to watch him and witness his magic in action. We've not seen that kind of magician at the club ever since he left. It's about time Liverpool get back to those ways, and bring a proper midfield maestro. Someone who can delight us all. Things are not working out for Florian Wirtz The German was billed as the second coming of Coutinho. Wirtz was seen as someone who can naturally fill the void left behind by the Brazilian many years prior. But he's not kicked on in a Liverpool shirt. The Wirtz we see in the German national team and the Wirtz we saw at Bayer Leverkusen is not quite the same player. Liverpool need so much more of the attacking midfielder. The Reds need him to be like Coutinho. They need him to be creating chances and beating defenders for fun. He's capable of it. He's done it before. But he needs to do it on a consistent basis. If he doesn't, there's someone in the academy who can step in his shoes. Liverpool's next Coutinho is Erik Farkas There's a lot of hype around the Reds' fourth Hungarian. Erik Farkas has been at Liverpool since U11 level, and he's become one of the biggest stars in the Reds' academy. Despite being an U16 player last season, he had already become a regular for the U18s and also made his debut for the U19s. Now, he's kicking on even more. This season Farkas has started the campaign with two goals and two assists in his first two U18 Premier League matches. In his brief ten-minute cameo for Liverpool's U19 side, he also nearly scored the winner against Atletico Madrid, hitting the post with a great strike. Farkas is silky. He dribbles with ease and he creates a lot of chances while also capable of being a goal-scorer. There are shades of Coutinho in his style of play, and given his performances at this level he is now very much nearing the Reds' first-team.
