It is a significant relief for Jose Mourinho, who will need his number one in top shape for what promises to be a demanding period. Real Madrid face Elche in midweek before the high-stakes clash with Atletico Madrid, and Courtois’ reliability between the posts could prove decisive. In the meantime, Courtois is also in talks with Real Madrid over a new contract that should solidify his future at the Bernabeu until 2028. The two parties are reportedly closing in on an agreement , with Real Madrid in a hurry to get the renewal across.
