Barcelona one win away from making club history under Hansi Flick Barcelona are one victory away from creating a piece of club history that no previous Barça side has managed. Hansi Flick’s team have won all six of their competitive matches at the beginning of the 2026/27 campaign, matching the club’s best-ever start.  Now Racing Santander stand between Barcelona and an unprecedented seventh consecutive victory when the teams meet at Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday. The current run has been built across two competitions. Barcelona have beaten Elche, Athletic Club, Rayo Vallecano, Valencia and Levante in La Liga, before adding victories over Feyenoord in the Champions League. Six matches, six wins. It is a start that has already placed Flick’s side alongside some of the most successful teams in Barcelona’s history. Barcelona opened the 1929/30 campaign with six consecutive victories under James Bellamy, during only the second edition of the Spanish league, and it took another 30 years for the club to repeat the achievement. The 1960/61 team, coached by Ljubisa Brocic, also won its first six official fixtures. Four victories came in the opening rounds of La Liga, followed by two wins against Belgian club Lierse in the European Cup. The most recent example arrived in 2018/19 under Ernesto Valverde. That Barcelona side spread its six victories across three competitions. Ultimately, all three teams encountered the same barrier – none managed to win their seventh match. Racing Santander arrive at Spotify Camp Nou with a very different task. Their role is to prevent Barcelona from turning an already remarkable start into an outright record. For Flick, the Racing match is an unusual opportunity. His side has already equalled the best six-game start produced by any Barcelona team, and one more victory would give the German coach’s squad a record that has eluded every previous generation. Simply put, three Barcelona sides have gone six for six. None went seven. That final step, however, is now within reach.
