In Ligue 1, Amine Gouiri of Marseille has four goals and no assists, while Kamory Doumbia of Brest has four goals and one assist. Paris FC’s Lassine Sinayoko has also scored four times without providing an assist. In the Bundesliga, Igor Matanović of Freiburg and Patrik Schick of Bayer Leverkusen have three goals and one assist each. None can match Raphinha’s combination of goals and assists at this stage of the season. His numbers are even more impressive when the Champions League is included. He has eight goals and three assists across all competitions. A special record slips away Raphinha missed out on achieving a remarkable Barcelona record , after failing to score Levante last evening. Only Cesar Rodriguez in 1950/51 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2009/10 managed to score in each of Barcelona’s first five La Liga matches. The first arrived after just five minutes, when Raphinha set up Xavi Espart to open the scoring. Just 14 minutes later, he was involved again, finding Lamine Yamal, who made it 2-0. More than just goals and assists Raphinha’s contribution went well beyond his final passes. The Brazilian created three chances, more than any other Barcelona player. He also completed three dribbles, a figure matched only by Lamine among the visitors. He finished with two attempts on goal, one of them on target, but his attacking importance is better reflected by everything he created around the penalty area than by his own shots. That has become one of the defining features of his season. His influence is no longer limited to finishing chances.
