Pedro Marques has done it, Liverpool have incredible African sensation Liverpool have an incredible African sensation at the club. Pedro Marques is one of those figures behind the scenes who very few people talk about yet plays an imperative role in the structure of the club. His official role is described as the Director of Football Development for FSG and Liverpool. Although without a second club for FSG, Marques has been just working for the Reds since he was appointed in 2024. Marques came from an impressive background. He worked wonders at Benfica and has continued his excellent reputation at Anfield. The Portuguese man isn't in charge of senior recruitment per say, but he plays a key role in the identification of talent across the globe and in bringing some of the best young players to the club. Pedro Marques' impressive signings You may have noticed a shift in Liverpool's approach of late when it comes to the transfer market. The Reds are buying players at a much younger age and signing players from across the planet. Marques working alongside Matt Newberry, who is the Heald of Global Talent at the Reds, has played a key role in the success of these new recruits. Under their stewardship, the Reds have signed Ifeanyi Ndukwe, Armin Pecsi, Djylian N'Guessan, Lucca Brughmans and Samuel Martinez. More could be on the way, with Liverpool holding Diego Pelembe in high regard. And also inviting Sheriff Bah and Musa Jatta on a trial. Meanwhile, Sidy Barhama Ndiaye is another one who is expected to join the Reds in January 2028. And there's of course another impressive player from Africa already at Liverpool who is catching the eye. Why Mor Talla Ndiaye is simply brilliant Liverpool were in a crisis a few years, or even few months ago when it comes to their centre-back depth. But now Andoni Iraola's squad is in a really good shape. Obviously, Jeremy Jacquet has played a key role in this. But Mor Talla Ndiaye also deserves a mention. Thanks to Marques, the Reds were able to sign the Senegalese centre-back in January of this year, and since then he has been a revelation. Ndiaye scored on his UEFA Youth League debut last week, and has been sensational at U19 and U21 level after making a few cameos for the first-team in pre-season. Calm and composed on the ball, he reads the game very well and he is very strong in the air. He is a sensational talent. And it's all thanks to Marques that the managed to identify him and lure him to Anfield.
