New manager for Chelsea loanee: Kortrijk head coach Michiel Jonckheere leaves club after six defeats at the start of the season KV Kortrijk will be looking for a new head coach. After an abysmal 3-0 defeat away to RAAL La Louviere, head coach Michiel Jonckheere offered his resignation almost immediately. It was clear from his reaction to the game that Jonckheere could not quite believe what he had just witnessed. The young head coach had guided Kortrijk back to the top flight at the first attempt last season, but so far they have been well off the mark. The performance against RAAL was shocking, with the side lacking any real fight or quality as they were easily dealt with by another side expected to struggle this season. Remarkably, Kortrijk aren’t the only side yet to win, with Cercle Brugge, KV Mechelen and OH Leuven all looking for their first victories after six games. The gap to safety is therefore not as big as it could have been with such a start, so Kortrijk certainly have a chance. However, they have only scored one goal in six games and have conceded 15 at the other end. The defence has looked porous and the attack has failed to convert chances that have been created. For Chelsea fans keen on seeing how their on loan defender Harrison Murray-Campbell is getting on, clearly the signs aren’t great. However, the young defender is certainly learning at the deep end with Kortrijk struggling at both ends. So far, the 20-year-old has started three of the five games he’s played in.
