Chelsea Are Planning To Revive Their Interest In This Serie A Midfielder This January: Good Option For Alonso? In a recent report , Tuttumercatoweb revealed that Chelsea are planning to revive their interest in Roma midfielder Manu Kone this January. It has been mentioned that the Blues could face competition in the form of Liverpool in pursuit of the France international. Kone’s Impressive Form In Serie A Kone enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 25-year-old registered two goals and picked up three assists in 37 matches for Roma last season in multiple competitions. The French talent is currently among the best central midfielders in Serie A. Hence, it is no wonder that the Blues are hoping to land him in this January transfer window. His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Chelsea to land him on a cut-price deal next year. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has the vision to engineer some decent chances in the final third. The French talent is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can even chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team from midfield. Kone is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder if told to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to bring him on board this January. We can expect Kone to add more quality and depth to Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso’s midfield. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge. At 25, Kone has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent option for the Blues to consider this winter. Hence, Alonso would be wise to step up his efforts to land him when the transfer window reopens this January.
