Who is JJ Gabriel and why does the teenage sensation want to leave Manchester United?

JJ Gabriel is one of the top young prospects in the game, but the Manchester United teenager is now at the center of a quite incredible saga. Gabriel, still just 15 years old, stood out during United's preseason tour as he played against Atletico Madrid for Michael Carrick's first team. The striker won the Premier League's U18 player of the season award last season, despite only being 14 when the season began, and scored a hat trick in his UEFA Youth League debut last week. But multiple reports, including this one from The BBC , say that Gabriel refused to train with United at the end of last week due to "issues in the relationship between the player's family and United." It was expected that Gabriel would be in United's first team squad for their League Cup game at home against Brighton & Hove Albion this Wednesday, where he would have become their youngest-ever player had he featured. But instead The Telegraph say that Gabriel has "sent formal notice of intention to cancel his registration with immediate effect" and does not want to play for them. Per the BBC's reporting, United's top hierarchy are in talks with his family about the situation and United can challenge his request to cancel his registration. Gabriel has a contract with United until the end of the current season and when he turns 16 this October he would be able to sign a scholarship agreement. Known as "Kid Messi" Gabriel was born in London and played at QPR, Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea academies before joining United's academy in 2022. He has a very bright future and it will be intriguing to see how this all plays out, as clearly there will be top clubs everywhere monitoring his situation.
