York sign half-back Hunter from Thunder
Cody Hunter scored five tries in 20 appearances for York Knights in 2026 [SWPIX.COM] York Knights have signed Newcastle Thunder half-back Cody Hunter on a two-year deal after a successful loan spell. The 24-year-old Australian joined the Thunder from Queensland Cup side Sunshine Coast Falcons last winter. He scored 10 tries in 11 appearances for the Championship side at the start of the campaign before joining the Knights on loan in April. "He's still a relatively young player and he's got his best years in front of him - we're really looking forward to seeing Cody kick on," head coach Mark Applegarth told the club website. York finished their debut Super League season in 10th place after winning their final two games of the campaign.
