Barcelona expect Camp Nou capacity to increase to 70,000-72,000 in early 2027 – report Barcelona are preparing for another major step in Spotify Camp Nou redevelopment, with the club expecting the stadium’s permitted capacity to rise to between 70,000 and 72,000 spectators in the early months of 2027. According to RAC1 (h/t COPA ), the increase forms part of the ongoing redevelopment of the iconic stadium, which is gradually returning to life after a prolonged period of construction work. Barça have already started enjoying home matches at the renovated ground again, while work continues around the stadium. Recent lighting tests have also offered another glimpse of how the new Camp Nou is taking shape. At present, the current permitted capacity stands at 62,652 while redevelopment remains ongoing. The finished Spotify Camp Nou is expected to hold more than 104,000 spectators, putting it among the largest football stadiums in Europe. That long-term target has gained even greater significance following the decision to award Barcelona the 2029 Champions League final . The renovated Camp Nou was selected ahead of Wembley Stadium in London to host the showpiece event. For Barça , the 2029 final provides a major deadline around which the redevelopment can be measured. Camp Nou will host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final. Barcelona still have work to complete There is some optimism that Camp Nou could become fully operational as early as the 2027/28 season . For now, however, that remains an ambitious possibility rather than an established timetable. The expected increase to 70,000-72,000 spectators in early 2027 would therefore be an important stage. Barcelona’s stadium plans also carry added importance with Spain set to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The immediate focus, though, is on restoring more of the stadium to regular use. Moving beyond the current 62,652 limit would bring another sizeable increase in matchday capacity and take Barcelona another step closer to the Camp Nou they ultimately want.
