Manchester City’s Gigio Donnarumma vows to turn things around for Italy

Manchester City’s Gigio Donnarumma vows to turn things around for Italy It is quite unfortunate that Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is yet to play at a World Cup in his already illustrious career. The goalkeeper has now spoken about how Italian football is entering a new era and they want to put the failures behind them. The ex-AC Milan man saw Italy fail to make it to the 2026 World Cup, as they lost to Bosnia in the playoffs final in March.  He spoke to Sky Italia about the Azzurri and urged for more positivity around the team. He said – via Corriere dello Sport : “Right now we need a lot of positivity. The summer was very difficult for all of us, especially because we failed to qualify for the World Cup . It was also very difficult for me to experience those days and watch the World Cup from the outside.” The Manchester City keeper also said that they want to bring in a new era for the national team and put the bad times behind them. “Now, however, we must turn the page, regain our optimism, and recreate a great group. We can only do this together, also thanks to the support of the Italians, which we will need from the very first matches.” Donnarumma will have a huge sense of responsibility on his shoulder soon – if he doesn’t have it already. He is now one of the most senior players in the national team setup, especially as Roberto Mancini is expected to inculcate many young players into the fold. They will look up to Donnarumma as someone who can pull them through in the right direction and the keeper’s status will only increase from here on. Kaustubh Pandey – GIFN
