Monaco CEO confirms plan to sell Folarin Balogun in January AS Monaco’s CEO Thiago Scuro has confirmed that the club’s plan is to sell Folarin Balogun (25) during the January transfer window, which would allow Lamine Camara and Aleksandr Golovin, both heavily linked with exits over the summer, to see out the season with the Principality club. Balogun and Camara were both involved in transfer sagas on transfer deadline day. With Monaco needing to make sales, the priority was to sell Balogun, who was in Liverpool to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Everton. However, that move looked to be breaking down in the final hours of deadline day, opening the door for Camara to join Chelsea. Ultimately, a restart in talks between Everton, Monaco, and Balogun saw the door once again firmly closed for Camara, who would remain with the Principality club, and as would Balogun, who, at the last minute, opted to remain with the Ligue 1 side. Scuro has said that the USMNT forward felt “uncomfortable” making the move after the medical staff at Everton raised doubts over his fitness. But the plan is still to sell the former Arsenal forward, in order to comply with the promises made to French football’s financial watchdog, the DNCG. Speaking on RMC Sport show Rothen S’enflamme , Scuro confirmed Les Monégasques’ plans. “The original plan is to find a solution for Balogun. If we find that, it will give Monaco the opportunity to keep Lamine and Golovin until the end of the season.
