Real Madrid working on a deal to sign JJ Gabriel from Manchester United Real Madrid are working on a deal to sign Manchester United wonderkid JJ Gabriel. According to The Athletic , Madrid admired the 15-year-old’s performance in United’s 5-0 Youth League victory over Sabah last week. The La Liga giants face competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich, who are all keen on him. Gabriel joined United’s academy at the age of 11, and he has since become one of their most exciting prospects. The youngster has scored 29 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions for the club’s Under-18 team. However, Gabriel has formally requested to leave United, handing in a letter of de-registration. The Red Devils are keen to keep him at the club. However, the Premier League giants could be powerless to stop him leaving once he turns 16. United would only be entitled to training compensation that could amount to a six-figure sum. Gabriel refused to train ahead of Wednesday’s League Cup tie with Brighton & Hove Albion, where he could have made his first-team debut. He is reportedly left unhappy with the lack of opportunities at first-team level this season. The left winger played only eight minutes during United’s pre-season friendly with Atletico Madrid. Gabriel was an unused substitute against Leeds United. New signing Tynan Thompson got 45 minutes of game time.
