Barcelona confirm Joan Garcia diagnosis after injury scare against Racing Club Barcelona have avoided the injury outcome they feared when Joan Garcia failed to return for the second half against Racing Santander. The goalkeeper underwent medical tests on Thursday after being replaced at the interval of Barça’s 7-2 victory .  The results have ruled out a major injury, with the problem limited to mild discomfort in his right knee. Barcelona confirmed the diagnosis in an official statement, stating, “Joan Garcia is experiencing mild discomfort in his right knee. The evolution of the injury will determine his availability.” That leaves the goalkeeper facing a short spell out rather than a lengthy absence. Garcia’s knee problem came from a slip Garcia’s night ended after he slipped while trying to collect a ball near the advertising boards.  He felt discomfort following the incident and did not return for the second half, with Wojciech Szczesny taking his place. The sight of Szczesny warming up during the interval immediately raised concern among the Barcelona fans. Flick was also unwilling to give a strong assessment after the game before Garcia had undergone further checks. Those tests took place at the Ciutat Esportiva this morning and provided the answer Barcelona wanted. There is no significant injury. Garcia will instead spend the next few days working on his recovery away from competitive action. His availability for the next fixture will depend on how the knee responds over the coming days, as Barcelona have not provided a specific return date. For now, though, the important part of the update is that Garcia has avoided a major injury.
