RC Lens to pay €25k fines per Ligue 1 match as coach Yannick Cahuzac awaits certification
RC Lens to pay €25k fines per Ligue 1 match as coach Yannick Cahuzac awaits certification RC Lens will have to pay fines of €25.000 per Ligue 1 match managed by their new manager, Yannick Cahuzac, the northern club’s managing director, Benjamin Parrot, confirmed on Thursday. ‘We can’t go against the rules. We’ll pay the fine,’ explained the Sang & Or executive at a press conference. Currently studying for his professional football coaching qualification (BEPF), Cahuzac, who recently replaced Dino Toppmöller on the Lens bench, will take charge of his first Ligue 1 match tomorrow, in a crunch fixture against AS Monaco. Although RC Lens had initially hoped to avoid these penalties, the National Technical Directorate (DTN) rejected their request, as Cahuzac has not been with the club for twelve months; he returned this summer after two and a half years at FC Lorient as Olivier Pantaloni’s assistant. Note, however, that these fines apply only to Ligue 1, and not to the Champions League, where Lens will face Sporting Lisbon on 13th October. GFFN | Léo Aschi
