Liverpool centre-back Jérémy Jacquet to earn first senior France call-up

Liverpool centre-back Jérémy Jacquet to earn first senior France call-up Liverpool centre-back Jérémy Jacquet (21) is expected to be called up by France’s national team manager Zinédine Zidane on Friday, L’Equipe understands. Zidane will reveal his maiden squad as Les Bleus boss for the upcoming international break, that will be three weeks long. France will get their UEFA Nations League campaign underway with four games against Turkey, Belgium (twice) and Italy. Given that Arsenal’s William Saliba remains sidelined as he recovered from back pain, Jacquet is expected to be called up alongside more senior centre-backs, such as Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano and Real Madrid’s Ibrahima Konaté. L’Equipe understands that Jacquet is internally perceived as a player with a very high potential. His start to life at Liverpool certainly lived up to the hype with a couple of eye-catching performances following his €70m move from formative club Stade Rennais FC. The fourth centre-back called up by Zidane is expected to come from Chelsea, although it remains to be seen whether it will be Maxence Lacroix or Wesley Fofana. Although, he took part in the 2026 World Cup for France, the former Sochaux and Crystal Palace centre-back is reportedly not unanimously rated within France’s new set-up, which could benefit Fofana.
