Borussia Dortmund beginning to regret the price they demanded for Adeyemi’s transfer to Barcelona – report Karim Adeyemi was supposed to give Barcelona another option in attack. Instead, seven games into his career at the club, he is starting to look like a player Hansi Flick cannot afford to overlook. That was not necessarily the expectation when Barça agreed to pay Borussia Dortmund an initial €22 million for the German.  With Adeyemi’s contract running until 2027, Barcelona saw an opportunity to add attacking depth without committing a huge fee, and the deal can rise by another €9 million through add-ons. For what it is worth, the early return, though, has gone well beyond the role of a cheap squad addition. Adeyemi has changed the way Barcelona can attack His performance in the 7-2 win over Racing Santander was the latest example. The statistics matter, yes, but his influence was easier to spot than to count.  Every time Adeyemi received the ball, he looked to run at Racing defenders rather than recycle possession, forcing the opposition to turn and retreat, opening more space for the players around him. It is also why his place in Flick’s plans has changed so quickly . Adeyemi has alternated between starts and substitute appearances, yet he has still produced three goals and three assists in seven matches. Dortmund’s €22m decision is already being questioned Notably, Barcelona were able to negotiate a relatively low initial fee because of his contract situation, but Dortmund have now watched a player they sold for €22 million make an immediate impact at one of Europe’s biggest clubs. Reports suggest there is already regret in Dortmund over the amount they demanded for Adeyemi. It is easy to understand why the conversation has emerged, as Barcelona have not needed to wait months for the forward to settle, and his contribution has arrived despite him not being an automatic starter. The season is still young, so the final judgement on the transfer will have to wait.
