The competition is moving to Istanbul , where Madrid will face Real Sociedad in the semi-final before a potential Clasico or Madrid derby in the final. The Spanish Football Federation has signed the agreement for Istanbul to host the tournament from 2 to 6 February. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad will be the four participants. Real Madrid to face Real Sociedad Madrid’s semi-final against Real Sociedad will take place on 3 February at the Tupras Stadium, the home of Besiktas. The stadium has a capacity of 42,590 and will provide a new setting for Madrid’s attempt to secure the first Spanish trophy available in 2027. Barcelona and Atletico will contest the other semi-final one day earlier at Fenerbahce’s Chobani Stadium. That means Jose Mourinho’s side already knows exactly what awaits them. Beat Real Sociedad and Madrid will face either Barcelona or Atletico in the final. Final set for Ali Sami Yen The final will be staged at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium, home of Galatasaray, with a capacity of around 52,000. Three different Istanbul stadiums will therefore be used across the competition, with a combined capacity of roughly 150,000. Istanbul replaces Saudi Arabia as host for this edition. The tournament had been staged in Saudi Arabia since 2020, apart from 2021, but the country cannot host the 2027 edition because of a scheduling clash with the Asian Cup. Mourinho has a chance to win his first trophy For Real Madrid, a change in result from recent years would ideally be more important than a change in the tournament’s location. Madrid will need only two victories to lift the trophy. Real Sociedad must come first, and looking beyond that semi-final would be a mistake. The Basque side have a tendency to punch above their weight and have proven to be giant killers. Still, a Clasico final carries obvious intrigue. It is the fixture most football fans want to see in the Super Cup final. Istanbul may be unfamiliar territory for the Spanish Super Cup, but Jose Mourinho will have a familiar objective: add another piece of silverware to his record.
