It isn’t just that they are on a four-game losing run in all competitions; it is also that, in those games, they have shown no signs of promise, despite Genesio’s attempts to put a positive spin on this steep decline. In this fixture last season, Marseille took all three points and were consequently briefly championed as PSG’s most likely challenger. That now feels like a long time ago.
