One of the few remaining Reds who was signed by the legendary German manger is Wataru Endo , but the Japanese midfielder has struggled in Merseyside recently. Having started just three games for Liverpool last season the 33-year-old is yet to play a single competitive minute for Iraola, despite featuring in the Reds' preseason games. After failing to find a place in the much-rotated side that beat Tottenham in the third round of the Carabao Cup the writing appears to very much be on the wall for the cult hero. Endo's Anfield exit is imminent The suggestion in a new report from Givemesport is that Endo's time at Liverpool has come to end, and that the midfielder will be sold in January before his contract expires at the end of the season. Having also missed out on being registered for Liverpool's 25-man UEFA Champions League squad it will not come as a surprise to many that Endo's exit is nearing. Liverpool's midfield depth has been a talking point this season though, with Trey Nyoni and James McConnell now being viewed as first-team players. Curtis Jones was sold in the summer with no replacement brought in, so the Reds are only a couple of injuries away from a real disaster in the middle of the park. This could see Endo's departure delayed until a fresh face has been added, but midfield additions will surely be a priority for the recruitment team at Anfield heading into the winter window. Once Endo's departure is confirmed Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirtz, Nyoni and McConnell will be the Reds' only options in the midfield. If everyone can stay fit that is a workable group, but if Liverpool are looking to compete on multiple fronts this season then reinforcements will be needed.
