'I've been working towards Scotland call for some time' - Ure

The 22-year-old striker has started three times for his new club since his transfer from Swedish top-flight leaders Sirius but has found himself on the bench in the latest two games as he seeks his first La Liga goal. Ure's 15 goals in 15 games in 2026 had helped take a side that finished ninth in 2025 into a commanding lead, attracting the attention of Sevilla and new Scotland head coach Sebastien Pocognoli. And the former Rangers youth was one of seven uncapped players in the Belgian's first squad as they prepare to face against Slovenia (home and away), North Macedonia and Switzerland in the Nations League. "It's a great feeling for me and my family," Scotland Under-19 cap Ure told Sevilla TV. "It is something I've been working towards for quite a while now, so I'm really happy for the call-up. "To play for Scotland, of course, is something I hope I can do in the next couple of weeks. "I'm really looking forward to it - to the opportunity to show the new gaffer what I can do and meeting all the boys as well. I'm excited." Ure will join up with the Scotland squad after Saturday's game as Luis Garcia's side go into the match as underdogs even on their own patch with Barcelona having won all six of their La Liga outings so far and Sevilla sitting in fifth, five points behind.
