Out of form Guernsey FC lose at AFC Varndeanians

Guernsey FC have not won a game since 22 August [Fran Torode] Injury-hit Guernsey FC suffered a fourth successive defeat in all competitions as they lost 1-0 at AFC Varndeanians in the Southern Combination Premier Division. Guernsey missed a golden chance to take a fifth-minute penalty when Ross Allen had a penalty saved after Dylan Graham had been tripped in the box. Allen glanced a header wide moments later while Will Fazakerley had a 25th-minute goal-bound strike from the edge of the area blocked. Allen went close soon after the commencement of the second half while Seb Shepperd did well to save from a home chance soon after. Sheppard was again needed to keep the islanders in it as he did well to save from Morris Dench with 20 minutes to go. Graham saw a 76th-minute header tipped over the bar, and were made to pay for their missed chances as the hosts got the only goal three minutes later when Aiden Eckworth stabbed the ball home after Guernsey failed to clear a ball into the box. The loss extended Guernsey's winless record to five games - they last tasted victory on 22 August when they won 1-0 at Roffey.
