Anderson double returns Camanachd Cup to Kingussie

[BBC] Kingussie lifted the Camanachd Cup for the fourth time in five years after coming from behind to beat last year's winners Newtonmore. The two most successful sides in the sport met in Oban, having shared eight of the previous nine Scottish Cups. Newtonmore took the lead when Struan Ross slammed home the opening goal after strong work from Iain Robinson. The strike was initially disallowed for offside against Robinson but, after consultation, the goal stood. Kingussie did their best to try and find a way back into the game but 55-year-old Kenny Ross in goal for Newtonmore stood firm, making two fine saves. Ross was busy again in the second half before Kings were handed a golden chance to equalise when Roddy Young was felled in the box, but Savio Genini blazed the resultant penalty high over the bar. There didn't appear to be much in the award and those in blue and white shirts will feel justice was done. They couldn't stem the Kingussie pressure, though, and with 20 minutes to go Ross was finally beaten by a low drive from the Kingussie captain Ruaridh Anderson. Ross was forced off after a clash with Calum Maclay, and just three minutes into extra time his replacement Connor Jones couldn't stop Anderson getting his second of the day as his powerful effort from distance found the top corner. Newtonmore couldn't find a way to level and it was joy for Kingussie as they lift the Camanachd Cup for the 27th time. It also gives Ronald Ross his first Scottish Cup win as a manager to go with the 12 he won as a player.
