Truro City stay in FA Cup after late equaliser

The Tinners needed a Tom Harrison goal in the eighth minute of second-half stoppage time to force a replay in Truro on Tuesday. The Tinners created a host of chances but could not convert them in their second qualifying round tie at their National League North opponents. "We've played really well and had a lot of chances," Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall. "The only thing that's missing is just putting the ball in the back of the net, and again it could have cost us. "As well as we played, to be one down with minutes to go, it shouldn't be happening. "But it's hard to be critical because we are making so many chances and we are playing well, but we've got to show a lot more composure than what we're showing in the box." Truro City skipper dreaming of FA Cup success Max Kinsey's header hit the bar after 17 minutes for the Cornish side while Harrison forced a good save from home goalkeeper Jaimie Cogman. Truro had assistant manager Stewart Yetton sent off five minutes from half time after a disagreement with a member of the Merthyr coaching staff, but continued to create chances after the break. Will Dean, Dominic Johnson-Fisher and Tom Tweedy all went close before Elis Watts put the hosts ahead with nine minutes to go. Johnson-Fisher, Ben Starkie and Will Dean could have gone on to equalise, but just as it looked as though Truro's FA Cup hopes would end for another year Harrison turned the ball home at the back post to force a replay. "They deserved at least a draw with the amount of effort they put in and the way that we played," added Askey "So many supporters have come again and I was pleased that they weren't going home shaking their heads and we've got a game now on Tuesday to put it right"
