Gian Piero Gasperini satisfied by Roma’s 2-2 draw against Inter

Gian Piero Gasperini satisfied by Roma’s 2-2 draw against Inter Serie A giants Inter and Roma played out an exciting 2-2 draw at the Stadio Olimpico in what was an accurate representation of the Italian top-flight so far in the campaign. Giallorossi boss Gian Piero Gasperini has expressed satisfaction about the result in the Italian capital. Manu Kone opened the scoring for the Giallorossi and also got a brace later in the first-half after a VAR check. But Inter, who have become accustomed to comebacks, grabbed one back through Lautaro Martinez early in the second half. As they kept pushing, the Argentine got another one later in the second 45, grabbing a brace of his own. Gasperini has now given his thoughts about the game. He made it clear that despite conceding a comeback, Roma come away largely satisfied. Describing the performance, he told DAZN – via TMW : “It was a game where both teams could have won at one point, but the goal early in the second half changed things a bit. Inter are a great team, they can always score, but we didn’t give up. This match should give us satisfaction and confidence.” Gasperini was also asked about how far they currently are from Inter. “We have to be happy with the path we’re taking and the quality we’re bringing to these matches. There’s a lot of positive energy in this team, we need to continue on this path.  “In the first half, we had plenty of space, we were able to threaten every time we broke back. I had to make a change at the back because we were struggling. Balerdi had to come off, and it’s a shame, but Dybala and Soule held firm until the end.” The Italian clarified that Roma are only focused on themselves, even if they could be in a title race. “We’re looking at our own game; we need to be aware that under certain conditions we can be a good team. We need to see consistency in our matches. After the break, we’ll have plenty of games to play, and we’ll need to improve across the entire squad because the schedule will be truly demanding.” Kaustubh Pandey – GIFN
