In the first 45 mins, there were very little clear cut chances for either side, but Dortmund were the more dominant of the two, seeing more of the ball and finding themselves in the host’s box more, but they were unable to convert any of their chances into anything that could trouble Fabian Bredlow. Stuttgart’s best chances came through Deniz Undav and Ermedin Demirovic, with both being saved by Gregor Kobel. In the second half, the game followed a similar type of pattern to the first half, and on the 60th minute mark, Niko Kovac brought on Jobe Bellingham and a returning Konstantinos Karetsas , and it helped swing the game in Dortmund’s favour. On the 70th minute, Karetsas would register Dortmund’s first shot on target of the game, then immediately after, Jobe Bellingham played in a low cross, which was turned in by Maximilian Beier to give Kovac’s side the lead. Fellow substitute Fabio Silva had a decent chance to double Dortmund’s lead, but the momentum would eventually shift in Stuttgart’s favour as they searched for an equaliser, which just wouldn’t come, and they ultimately proved rather ineffective in attack. Both teams were not at their best, and the fact that Dortmund were able to come away with the three points shows it was a professional win for die Schwarzgelben, and it was also classic Kovac in how they did it too. The win for Dortmund maintains their 100% record, and they are the only side in the league remaining with a perfect record. Most importantly, they are also now top of the table with a two-point lead over Bayern Munich.
