Zinédine Zidane calls time on N’Golo Kanté’s France career
Zinédine Zidane calls time on N’Golo Kanté’s France career Zinédine Zidane, in evoking the subject of a potential return for Karim Benzema (38), announced that N’Golo Kanté’s (35) time as a France international is over. Kanté was involved in the most recent FIFA World Cup. However, there has since been a managerial change. Didier Deschamps has left his position and has been replaced by Zidane. Friday’s squad announcement, attended by Get French Football News, marked a departure from the previous regime. There had been reports that Zidane’s appointment could provide a route back in for Benzema, who was last called up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, before withdrawing with injury before the start of the tournament. He will not return and nor will Kanté. “I love Karim, but he is of a certain age, like N’Golo,” said Zidane. He added, “I am admiring of [Karim’s] career, but now, I need to see younger players, which doesn’t take away anything that he has done for club and country.” Kanté has 69 caps for Les Bleus. He is not likely to add to that. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
