Man United dealt another injury blow in Fulham draw
Man United dealt another injury blow in Fulham draw Marcus Rashford Injury Concern Grows After Manchester United Draw With Fulham Manchester United have another problem to manage, and this one could stretch beyond club level. Marcus Rashford is now a serious doubt for England’s upcoming Nations League fixtures after being forced off in the 1-1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage. Rashford started despite carrying the burden of another difficult week for United, with Michael Carrick making just one change from the side beaten 1-0 in the Manchester derby. He remained one of United’s main attacking threats, even if the end product never arrived. On the face of it, it looked odd. United needed a goal, Rashford was still dangerous, and there was no obvious sign of damage. There was enough to suggest a problem, though. He had taken a knock in the first half, then was fouled by Timothy Castagne after the break. He did not need treatment on the pitch, but Carrick later confirmed there was an issue. After the match, the United head coach said, “We had to bring him off as he had a bit of an issue.” He added, “Marcus was a threat. He could have had a couple of goals for us today. He’s another one who is getting himself in good positions, it’s just not quite falling for him. It will. “We know Marcus. We know how to get the best out of him and will continue to do that.” Manchester United injury list still easing The expectation now is that Rashford will withdraw from the England squad for matches against Spain, twice, Croatia and Czechia during the extended international break. That would be a blow for England, and a frustration for the player, who has looked sharper even if the numbers still lag behind. There was at least some better news for Manchester United elsewhere. Benjamin Sesko missed the trip to London, but Carrick expects reinforcements after the break ahead of Tottenham’s visit to Old Trafford on October 10. He said, “It was good to have Carlos [Baleba] today [on the bench]. Amad, hopefully by the time we get back, he will have trained with the group. That’s a positive. Matta is working towards his fitness as well.” United need Rashford fit and firing This is where United are. Rashford is getting into scoring positions, but not finishing them. Carrick says the right things, and for now that is all he can do. The bigger issue is availability. If Rashford misses England duty, United will hope the break gives him time, because they need him fit more than ever.
