Another setback for Club Brugge defender after failing Crystal Palace medical Over the summer, it looked like Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez would be leaving to join Crystal Palace . Club Brugge had been open to selling him this summer as the defender wanted to take another step in his career, and Crystal Palace had been the side wanting to sign the talented Ecuadorian defender. However, Ordonez failed his Crystal Palace medical. He returned to Belgium to focus on getting fit again to play for Club Brugge and perhaps move in January. However, as reported by HLN , Ordonez has suffered another injury set back. The defender had played with a slight foot injury at the World Cup for Ecuador which then developed into a full fracture. Over the summer, Club Brugge had opted against surgery, in the hopes that a less invasive form of recovery would allow Ordonez to regain fitness and move on. Yet this clearly has not worked, and now Ordonez is facing a longer time on the sidelines. His expected return is around the new year. Whether or not Crystal Palace will return for him in January remains to be seen, but many interested clubs will want to see him feature for Club Brugge to prove his fitness. GBeNeFN  |  Ben Jackson
